Balestro knows that quality is a fundamental element for the successful development of any company. That is why the company has been constantly investing in the quality of its products and processes. For this reason, the company was the first surge arrester industry in Brazil to be certified by NBR ISO 9002:1994 in March 1997 and ever since has been perfecting its performance day by day.

In 2003, with the efforts of all the employees in the company, supported by its board of directors, Balestro made the transition to NBR ISO 9001:2000. The process was successfully conducted, with no non-conformities discovered in its system; another great leap in quality, commitment, dedication and responsibility.

The outstanding performance of the Quality Management System was so consistently maintained that in March 2007, Balestro reached another important step. The company received from the auditing team of União Certificadora, the highest concept granted to a Quality System, the concept that leads to Excellence. (above arrow).

The premise of the Balestro`s Quality Management is to establish efficiency standards that fulfill the needs and expectations of its customers in relation to products and services. For this reason, in auditing carried out at the end of October, the company reached this great achievement. Polymeric Station Class Surge Arresters, Polymeric cut-outs and Pillar insulators have also received the ISO 9001 Certification. All Balestro's products currently hold this Certification.

On November 05, 2009 another important step was taken. Balestro received the ISO 9001:2008 Certification for all product lines and maintains the concept of Excellence within the Quality Management System. The Board of Directors congratulates all those involved in this achievement.

Created by the Eletrobrás group of companies, the Project NBR 19000 seeks to improve the quality of the goods and acquired services used by companies, with the consequent reduction of costs and adaptation in the service to the delivery periods. The project has as its guidelines to encourage and monitor the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System, according to the standard NBR ISO 9001. The evaluation of the performance as indispensable requirements for qualification of the supplier is coordinated for ELETROBRÁS and has the participation of various companies.

The quality program developed by COPEL and LACTEC, for the approval of manufacturers / suppliers. Qualicerti seeks the improvement of quality of materials / equipment and it was conceived to assist the energy sector in the improvement of the performance of generating, transmission and electric power distribution areas. This was done through the adjustment of products, materials and / or equipment within manufacturing quality standards and the full compliance to the specifications of their final use.

This service is supplied to the concessionaries of electric power as well as to their suppliers, creating a bond based on the compliance of quality standards by the involved parties. This guarantees the approval of products, materials and / or equipment, tested in agreement with national and international technical standards.

For the concessionaries of electric power, the advantages lie in the trust in the acquisition of products, materials and / or equipment with proven quality, with economical resources verified after purchase and with maintenance reduction. This accelerates the whole acquisition process, generating greater competitiveness and providing to the participant concessionaries a prominent place within the national energy sector.

For the approved suppliers, the advantages are even more relevant because there is an immediate improvement in this concept in the energy sector and its concessionaries, its main customers, the approval of its products, materials and / or equipment, which represent the recognition of a high degree of quality and technical training.

This is how the Qualicerti program approves a company for the supply to Copel of distribution surge arresters, type PBP 15/05 and PBP 27/5.
